The Example of Christ

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Christ didn't wait until we were perfect before He elected to die for us. He didn't wait until we have put away our bad habits. He didn't wait until we had made a vow to be good. He died for us when we least deserved it. He is still acting on our part even though we do not deserve it. This is the example we must follow if we are to grow in His likeness.
We spend so much time condemning the bad things that people do that we overlook the fact that their individual sins are not the problem, they're the symptoms of the problem. The deep down problem is the fact that they are still living in the flesh of sin. They need to be born again into a new creation. The reason they have sin is because they do not have God.
We need to meet people right where they are, without reservation or bias. Regardless of anyone's past, they need God. Period. Abortion or homosexuality, murder or stealing, they are simply the symptoms of living in sin without God. When we stop to judge others according to their individual sins, we are placing a band-aid on the skin of a cancer victim. We need to be treating the cancer.
